| Bud was introduced to the Missouri Foxtrotter by his Uncle, Junior Nimmo. At 8 years old he was riding Junior's Foxtrotters and helping with the farm chores gathering cattle on the Foxtrotters. The same Foxtrotter work horse was also the family show horse. They would "jump" the horse into the back of a pick up truck with racks on the sides and head off to Foxtrotter shows which were held at the old fairgrounds in Ava on the ball field diamond. The pick up truck was the horse trailer of that time! Over the years, Junior showed Bud how to ride in so many situations on the hundreds of Foxtrotters that the family shared. The Foxtrotter performance horse at that time, rode with a low head set, loose reins and just capped the tracks in his Foxtrot. Junior has been a part of this breed since the beginnings, when you could have a Foxtrotter approved for registration just before a show by having an inspector on the grounds watch your horse travel and decide that it exhibited the gait this new breed registration was looking for. Junior was recognized for his dedication in improving & promoting the breed and was inducted into the MFTHBA's Hall of Fame in 2007. Foxtrotters are not only Bud & Tori's way of life now, they actually brought them together. Tori was formerly a quarter horse person and in 1997 had finally convinced her Mother, Betty, to crawl up on one of her horses after many, many years of being a horse show -on the ground only- mom. Being a beginner rider, Betty found the quarter horse trot not very plesant. Tori went in search of the perfect smooth gaited horse for Betty and was told not to buy a gaited horse until she tried out a Foxtrotter. Then Tori met Bud and Betty found her perfect horse. Tori was envious of her Mother's cadillac ride and sold all of her quarter horses and replaced them all with Bud Blankenship Foxtrotters, the rest is history.... As the Missouri Foxtrotter gained popularity so did the demand for quality tack that actually fits Foxtrotting horses, along with a desire to be able to talk to a knowledgeable person on the other end of a phone line when placing orders for Foxtrotter tack and supplies. Disappointed with the selection of Foxtrotter products that were available, and disappointed in the lack of knowledge about Foxtrotting Horses when dealing with Walking Horse and Quarter Horse Suppliers, whose items did not fit to start with.... Bud & Tori started Foxtrot USA Tack & Supply in 2003. Over the years Bud and Tori have paired up hundreds of Foxtrotters with owners nationwide. All of their Foxtrotters become a part of their family and are taken to trail rides, clinics and shows throughout the year that they attend. Some of the horses are only with them for a couple of days before they find their perfect owner, some of them wait longer and remain as Bud & Tori's horse untill their perfect owner is found. |
